Limited Access to Amenities
There is one general store on the mountain with seasonal hours and NO GAS STATION. Most guests buy groceries, supplies & gas in the nearby town of Courtenay, BC (Google map) or Cumberland, BC (Google map). Courtney is approximately 15 min. from the Chalet in summer and 25 min. in winter. Cumberland is slightly closer to the mountain and has a "Gas & Go" with an attached min-mart.
Roads, Chains & Rentals
During the winter in snow conditions, all vehicles traveling the Strathcona Parkway to Mount Washington are required to carry chains. In extreme weather, chain rentals are available for rental at the base of the mountain during business hours only.
